Public Access to Microchip Scanners
Patent-pending
Chloe Standard is currently developing their patent-pending hardware device: Public Access to Microchip Scanners which will be made available soon to communities across the U.S.
Having free and local access to microchip scanners is an important issue for pet owners and if they were made available, 92% of survey respondents say they would use them according to a 2009 online study conducted by Chloe Standard.
OPENING CLOSED TECHNOLOGY:
Allowing access to essential microchip tools for the benefit of consumers will build a more informed and conscientious consumer. When pet owners are able to access microchip scanners, to have their own pet scanned for optimal microchip operation and to have the availability of people who might find their lost pet to return their lost pet within a matter of minutes, Chloe Standard expects the reunification rates of lost pets to rise significantly.
THE EUTHANASIA PROBLEM:
The 2007 study from the University of Ohio School of Veterinary Medicine Search methods that people use to find owners of lost pets reports that "only 8% of the individuals who found a lost pet were initially willing to surrender the animal to an animal agency. The primary reason given for not surrendering a found animal was the fear the animal would be euthanized."
